Promoting
the arts in the borough
The
Borough of Reigate & Banstead Arts Council is a voluntary charitable
body (Registered Charity number 267465) whose principal role is to
promote all aspects of the Arts in the Borough. Committee members
include
representatives
from
local
arts groups plus members and officers from the local council.
Reigate
and Banstead are located within Surrey, south of London and north
of Brighton. The M25 cuts east to west through the borough and
nearby is Gatwick airport and the M23. Towns found within the borough
include Nork, Banstead, Burgh Heath, Tadworth, Kingswood, Hooley,
Merstham,
Reigate,
Redhill, Salfords, Sidlow and Horley.

Services
BRBAC currently offers the following services:
Financial Support
• Cash
grants are made each year to local
organisations on behalf
of the Borough
• Applications are invited from any member
group which must be made by 1st January
• Disbursements will be made in the
following April
• Amounts are generally between £100
and £500
Advice
•
Guidance is available on a range of subjects
including publicity,
printing,
insurance,
bookings, venues for performances and
rehearsals, wardrobe
and properties.
Marketing Support
Member
groups can promote their forthcoming
events via:
• On-line
Newsletter which is updated quarterly
• Quarterly news summary in hard copy
mailed to all members
• Events Diary which is distributed quarterly
to some 75 active
Arts organisations in
the Borough as well as Council members
and the general public
• Poster Board sites in Redhill and Reigate
• Events News insert in the Harlequin Theatre's
What's
On publication. For £20 members can
advertise to over 17,000 regular
theatre goers.
A
synopsis of member societies is also published in the Who's Who publication
which includes a
summary of their activities, aims and achievements as well as contact
details. Who's Who guides are
distributed via Help Shops and libraries throughout the Borough. Additional
Marketing initiatives are also under development.

our close ties with the local authority we
have regular contact with
Councillors and
Council
Officers and act as the voice of the Arts in
Council matters
as required.
Meetings
• Members
are invited to gather and discuss the Arts
in a relatively informal
way at meetings twice
a year.
• The Arts Council fosters closer ties between
societies and other
local organisations.
Costumes
• A
range of costumes is available for production or
fancy dress use.
