Banstead
& Nork Amateur Operatic Society has been producing shows
for over 70 years.
In the early days they were mainly Gilbert and Sullivan
but the repertoire has been broadened and varied to the
extent that recent shows have been “Annie”,
“My Fair Lady”, “Die Fledermaus”,
“ Calamity Jane” and “Crazy for You”.
The main show is performed at the Epsom Playhouse for a
week. A smaller show takes place at the Community Hall,
Banstead. Tickets are often available at the Ibis Bookshop,
Banstead
This friendly group welcomes new members both on stage
and back stage. There is an active social side. Rehearsals
are on Tuesday evenings and principals on Thursdays 8-10pm.

Surrey Operatic Society |

mainly in the Reigate and Redhill area, this society was
formed in 1906 "to provide an opportunity for its members
to develop their interest in opera and drama, by the production
of operatic and music works, concerts and plays".
The Society has around two hundred members, and acting
members present an annual production in March at The Harlequin,
Redhill, following rehearsals beginning in October.
Recent presentations have included such musicals as Sweeney
Todd, 42nd Street, Honk! Merrily we Roll Along & Annie.

Club of Reigate and Redhill |

| The
Opera Club was founded in 1952, initially specialising in
the works of Gilbert & Sullivan, but now including a
wider range of shows which are performed in The Harlequin
in November.
In March each year we present the very popular “Sounds
Familiar” Concerts, featuring songs from operetta,
musicals, opera and the current West End shows.
We rehearse in Reigate on Mondays and Thursdays, we also
hold various social activities. We welcome new members,
both acting and non-acting (and of all ages), so if you

Opera was founded in 1970 by Joyce Hooper MBE. Its aim is
to provide a high professional standard of opera at affordable
prices. Standards are kept uniformly high under the Artistic
Directorship of well-known local conductor Jonathan Butcher.They
usually perform two fully staged classical operas, with
orchestra and professional soloists in the Surrey / Kent
/ West Sussex area every year. The chorus consists of dedicated
amateur singers; entry to the chorus is by simple audition.
Rehearsals are held on Monday and / or Thursday evenings
and occasionally at weekends, in Croydon.
Surrey Opera is a friendly and highly committed company.
